Story Title: Houses and Summertime
By: Pam
The best times we had were when Mom would come and get me and the kids after Jim went to the races on Saturdays and we’d go back to her house and maybe have a cookout or just eat popcorn for supper. Kel and Amiee would run around and play and later when it cooled off we’d walk around looking at Mom’s flowers, check out the garden. We’d help her weed the garden while we talked. She’d keep a close eye on me and the kids tho cos she didn’t want us pulling up any veggies lol. I remember watching her weeding the garden when I was a kid in Attica. Bill, Robin, and me would steal tomatoes when her back was turned but she always knew and would yell at us but we’d run as fast as we could! 🙂 She used to can vegetables until it got to be too much for her to do. Then when we moved to a house in the country in Brookston she’d come over every other Saturday. We’d just stay home and talk and have a cookout or go buy something to eat. Sometimes we’d take her to Monticello to shop at this little store called Turquoise and Treasures. She loved that place. Sometimes we’d go to Barnes & Noble. She had quit cooking by then so me and Kel always made sure if we didn’t buy something like pizza we’d cook a meal so Mom would get something good to eat instead of microwave food at least every other week. Those were the best of times. Happy memories. Love you Mommy.

I am very sorry to hear about your Grandma ,I thought this was pretty ,so wanted to pass it on to your whole family .(God looked around his garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. And your for every be in our hearts )

It will be the little things that you will remember,
the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem hard right now,
it will be the memories of these little things
that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.
